Wordpress User Permission Mapping
Ben,

I'm curious about the permissions in your new plugin. In the quick documentation it says that Form tools users can be mapped to Wordpress users so that they can view subsets of forms.

My question here is, do the formtools users have to exist beforehand?

What I'm getting at is suppose I want to use formtools as my backend processor of data that comes from incoming forms. However, all of my frontend is done with Wordpress.

If my users all sign up to become Wordpress Users, then can they automatically create Formtools users? Or vice versa, can wordpress users automatically become formtools users?

Thanks!
-Brandon

RE: Wordpress User Permission Mapping
Hi Brandon,

Thanks for the post!

Yes, the Form Tools user needs to exist beforehand, but I think it can work okay for you. You only need to create the Form Tools user once, then assign the entire Wordpress user type (e.g. "Author") to that Form Tools account. Then all Author accounts created within Wordpress - including those that aren't created yet - will automatically inherit the permissions of that Form Tools account. You can have as many Wordpress accounts as you need to be mapped to a single Form Tools user. So if you like, you could assign all Wordpress account types to the same Form Tools account, and everyone within Wordpress will see the same Form Tools data.

Blurgh... that didn't come out as clear as I'd hoped. Let me know if you have any questions. Smile
