Hi Milton,

Yes, there does seem to be a general consensus that some sort of paid option is acceptable, but we don't have anything concrete planned just yet.

First comes 2.1.0 - I really need to get that off my plate before considering the next step!

Would be happy to pay - just started using it and think it is an excellent solution. I would however have a basic solution that people with fewer features that people could use to get a feel for the software. It's ease of use is one of it's key selling points. Would be happy to recommend.

Thanks, Ozzy! Smile

What we've decided to do it to release paid modules, but leave the Form Tools Core (and all existing modules free). We talked about releasing a "light" version like you suggested, but I ended up vouching against it. With paid modules, you can just purchase the functionality that you need.

Anyway, more info on the paid modules coming soon(ish!). All the best -

Ben

Ben -

I would be in support of a paid version! My donation was on my own, since my employer can't make a "donation"... but if there was a paid version, I could easily have my employer buy the license!
Didn't see that post until just now.. good idea!

FormTools is my #1 piece of kit when developing any form processing on a new site. Happy to pay, but would be keenly looking at extensions in the licence, ie. per domain fee? If too high it would probably make me look elsewhere, cause I use FT a *lot*... I would be happy to pay an annual subscription to get access to even the core, so long as I could use it on any number of domains. That's my 5 cents worth, but whatever you decide, I'll probably continue to be an avid supporter!

RE: Paid version of Form Tools? - Ben - Jun 5th, 2011

Hi wavesource,

Thanks for the post! Yes, we *will* be adding a license-per-site model, but only for certain modules, not the actual core script (or any of the existing modules currently available).

We totally agree: the last thing we want to do is put in impediments to using the core functionality

The paid modules (or "premium modules" as it looks like they're going to be named is Business Newspeak) will be very much "value added" (sigh... I hate terms like this Smile ) and only be of use to specific use-cases. That said, we're probably going to be developing quite a few in order to help generate a constant revenue stream.

Anyway, thanks again and I hope this dispels some of your concerns...

All the best!

- Ben
