verify_url.php - Big Al - Apr 14th, 2009

Ok, Im hoping someone can help me with this problem.
I installed Form Tools 2 and the install went great. Once installed tho, I try to add my first form, and get a really odd error.

"You don't have permission to access /formtools2/admin/verify_url.php on this server." (see attached image)

WHAT!? What do you mean I don't have permission!? I am logged in as Admin and have full access to server. Is it my folder/file permissions? I have not changedd any of the since the install, so they should all be correct (i would assume).
The default Admin folder permission are 755 and the default verify_url.php permissions are 644.
Should I change these? Should verify_url.php be 755 or 777!?

Anyway, Im really struggling with this on. Someone please help.

Thanks in advance.
AL

I would say changem to 777 and see what happens. Also - maybe it has something to do with mod rewrite not being enabled on your server. Not that I know too much about it... but it is in the htaccess folder. Ask your server people...

RE: verify_url.php - Big Al - Apr 15th, 2009

Thanks for the advice. I did try the 2 suggestions above, but with no success.
Then, as a test, I installed Form Tools 2 on a separate web host and the "verify_url.php" error does not happen.
Which, I guess, is good news. However, this means its something on the web server.
And does not really help me track down what is causing the error.

Anyone have any other suggestions!?
Thanks in advance.
AL

RE: verify_url.php - Ben - Apr 15th, 2009

Hey Big Al,

It sounds like sessions are getting lost between the two page calls. The permissions on the files shouldn't make any difference - as long as they're at least 644 it should work properly.

Oddly, this just happened on another chap's server. He was running IIS and the sessions weren't being updated from page to page. I couldn't locate the source of the problem, though.

Here's a quick thing you could try. It *may* solve things, but it's a bit of a long shot.

1. Log out.
2. Edit your config.php file and add this line:

PHP Code:
$g_session_type "database"

Then try logging back in and see if it's still broken.

Wow Ben, you're Awesome. That totally fixed it.
thanks

RE: verify_url.php - Ben - Apr 15th, 2009

Huh! (Sorry to sound surprised Smile ) I guess it was a sessions thing. Interesting!

I have this same problem and adding that line of code to the config.php in the glabal folder did not solve this issue. Any other ideas?

My server is linux.

Thanks!!

RE: verify_url.php - Ben - Jul 13th, 2010

Hi Ralph,

I think you're actually running an old version of the script - 1.5.1. These forums are actually only for 2.0.x, so it won't help. Sorry..!

RE: verify_url.php - ralphcle - Jul 13th, 2010

Hi Ben,

Thanks for the reply. Now I have installed 2.0.2 on a different domain and server and set out to rebuild 60 forms and I'm still getting the error message for verify_url.php. I feel like I'm in the Twilight Zone. Again I added the suggested line to the config file and still no joy. I was able to build a form by skipping the step to verify the url. So far no other errors but it's scary to be denied access to a file on 2 different servers.

RE: verify_url.php - Ben - Jul 17th, 2010

Hi Ralphcle,

Huh! I'm afraid I don't know the answer to this one... it sounds like sessions just aren't being maintained between a parent page and the popup it creates, but I don't see why that is.

Since you're experiencing it on two hosts, I wonder if it's browser-related. What browser and OS are you using?
