'unable to connect' - mmwashin - Aug 25th, 2011 Hey everyone! I had loaded form tools into a directory on my website to test it out and see how it worked before I added a new domain to my hosting services (I have 3 domains using the same hosting account incase that is of importance). I decided that I really liked what Form Tools offered and wanted to use it on the new website I was going to create. I loaded all of the files to the new domain's folder (I had originally transferred the folders and got an error, so I deleted them all and re-uploaded all of the files fresh) and went to do the installation of form tools like I had done previously, without trouble. This time I got an error, and I'm really not sure how to fix it. Any help would greatly be appreciated. The following error occurred: Sorry, we were unable to connect to the database using the information you supplied. The error message the database returned is: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2) Please double-check your database settings and click the Continue button again. I used "localhost" as database hostname like I did last time. RE: 'unable to connect' - Ben - Aug 26th, 2011 Hey mmwashin, Welcome to the forums! ![]() I'm afraid that's something you'll need to run by your hosting provider. A lot of hosts let you refer to the MySQL host via "localhost", but others don't. For instance, I'm on Dreamhost - they don't allow "localhost" references. Your hosting provider will know how to refer to it - run it by them! All the best - Ben |
