500 Internal Server Error on Step 3 - kvcrawford - Aug 27th, 2009
On step3.php, after entering (correct) MySQL database information, I get a 500 internal server error:

Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, ----@----.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Apache/2.2.11 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.11 OpenSSL/0.9.7a mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635 PHP/5.2.6 Server at --------- Port 80Might anybody have any idea of what's going wrong? I appreciate your help!

Also, here's what the error log says:

[Fri Aug 28 15:17:00 2009] [error] [client 216.86.206.119] File does not exist: /home/forms/public_html/500.shtml, referer: http://forms.epraxa2.com/install/step3.phpI decided to directly type in step4.php. It says that it will create the "config.php" file, which only has empty settings for all of the variables. So I copy & paste the generated config.php into an editor and set all of the variables.
Then I pressed the next button, and got this error

Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.
* This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept cookies.Cookies are enabled in my browser, by the way. After that, I uploaded my custom config.php to /global/
Then, I manually typed in step5.php, but I got the same "redirecting" error.
Might anyone be able to help? I would really appreciate it! I loved FT 1.x, and I'm really excited to try FT 2..x... if only I could install it!

Achk this is getting really frustrating! I found a few other threads with similar problems... I've tried setting permissions on all the directories to 777, deleting and uploading all the files, and editing my own config.php file...nothing has worked.
I'm on a linux server running Apache 2.2.11 (Unix), with PHP 5.2.6, and MySQL 5.0.81-community

Also, I just successfully installed it on a different server - my personal (MediaTemple) server, running PHP v4.4.8

I'm having the same exact error on step3. Any resolution to this?
I figured it out, disable ModSecurity:

I found the answer. It was the database password. It can only be alphanumeric.

Me too. Seems like this is more than a transient error since so many people are having it.
Looked at the server log, and there are no errors reported.
Tried the alpha numeric fix suggested here, but made no difference.
Deleted all files, and uploaded fresh files 3 times. No difference.
What now?

You have to enable the cookies first then this code is fine. If you have facing the issue still then you need to visit college homework help as they have many PHP as well as MY SQL experts for the help so they can provide you assistance.
