Form View Permission Issue - scott.adams - Mar 15th, 2010

I have a form that has 13 views associated with it. Each view has a specific user account associated with it. I am using the 13 views because I have specific filters assigned to each view. When I edit the form for any reason all of the accounts associated with the views get reset to "No clients" and I have to manually go into each view and setup the associated account again.
Any idea as to why this is happening? All of my other forms work well but they only have one view associated with them. This form is the only one that has multiple views associated with it and this is the only one causing this issue.
Thanks for the help.

RE: Form View Permission Issue - scott.adams - Apr 6th, 2010

Hi Ben,
Any thoughts as to the issue that I am experiencing with the different views for a form? It seems that when ever I modify any form within my system the settings for all of the views associated with this form gets changed to "No Clients". It's a hassle because there are so many views and reseting them daily takes a long time.
Let me know if you can think of what the cause might be.
Thanks

I am experiencing the same issue.

I can usually duplicate the issue by going into the admin screens and selecting a user to login as. Once I log in as that user and return to the admin screens to display the forms, this specific form will now have all of the access reset to "No Clients". I am trying to determine if this is the only way that the issue occurs. If so I guess I'll have to not user the "login as" feature.

Hey guys,

This is troubling - and yes, it sounds like a HUGE nuisance!!!

First off, what browsers are you using? I tried testing it out on FF and Chrome on Mac and I don't encounter any problems. Just want to eliminate the browser as a possible cause.

So updating ANY of the edit form pages resets the View "private" clients lists to "No clients"? e.g. updating the Fields tab or the Database tab? If so, that's extremely strange. Those database queries should be totally independent of the View tables so the data should be untouched... hmm...

The fact that two of you are running into this problem makes me that much more worried.

Is this a fresh install for you both, or was it upgraded from an older version? I'm wondering if maybe the database is the problem...

Let me know about the browser and I'll test it out. I may need to debug this directly on either of your systems to get to the bottom of it.

RE: Form View Permission Issue - scott.adams - Apr 14th, 2010

Thanks for looking into this. My browser is IE version 7.0.5730.13
Also here is how I was able to reproduce the issue this morning.
I added a new form, I made the view associated with this new form as "private" and assigned it to a client. When I went and looked at my form where there are many "private" views, all of the views were marked as "No clients". When I reviewed these "wrong" views the view is set to "private" and the assigned client name is removed from the view.
I have upgraded to the latest release of the software but this issue has been happening since the fresh install so I don't believe that the upgrade caused the issue.
I have a test system setup so I will continue to try and get you the exact sequence of events that cause this to happen.
Once I know how I can reproduce the issue every time, I will try to use Firefox instead of IE and see if the browser is causing my issue.

RE: Form View Permission Issue - iroast - Jul 15th, 2010

Hi Ben,

I am also having this issue. I have a handful of clients and their views get reset every now and then. I have to log in and add the views into their accounts each time it happens.

Old FT in /forms with new FT in /forms/ft2/

Undecided

Still a problem, huh?

Khanh, what version of the Form Tools core are you running? (found on Settings -> Main page).

I updated to the latest version. Will keep my fingers crossed. Thanks, Ben.

RE: Form View Permission Issue - Ben - Jul 22nd, 2010

Khanh - try to keep close attention of the actions you do, so that if and when it occurs again, you could provide me some pointers on how to reproduce it.

I know this is very general advice, but as much info as I can get, the better!
