Invalid Excel file format - robsedor - May 3rd, 2010 When open an Excel file of submissions that I downloaded (generated) from the Form Tools subsmissions interface, I receive an Excel error message that the file is not in .xls format and I need to verify that the file is "from a trusted source." If I click yes to open the file, it opens normally and I can re-save the file to eliminate this error message. I'm using Excel 2007/Windows 7. This error message does not appear using Excel 2008/Mac OS X. This is not a show-stopper problem, but clients are concerned when they see the Excel error when trying to open theses files. Is there a work-around or is there a problem with the Excel file generated by Form Tools? Thanks, Robert RE: Invalid Excel file format - Ben - May 6th, 2010 Hi Robert, I agree - this has been the case for literally years now, stemming back to one of the very first versions of Form Tools 1. Unfortunately, I couldn't get to the bottom of it way back then. I've logged this as a bug and I'll take another look. I didn't know that saving it fixed the problem - that may well be enough of a clue to come up with a workaround. http://bugs.formtools.org/index.php?cmd=view&id=227 - Ben RE: Invalid Excel file format - robsedor - May 7th, 2010 Thanks, Ben. Form Tools is a wonderful product. Robert |
