empty fiels gives "Â" character

Dear Ben,

Another strange thing....when I submit a form with empty fields I get a strange  character...any ideas?

Interesting problem... What field type is being used for the field(s) in which the character appears?

Hi Ben!

The field type is a dropdown box....but even if I changed it into a textarea field it returned the character. Maybe it is not the formfield type but more the excel conversion (export module?) giving this result?

Yeah, very possibly.

Would you mind checking the database just to see if there's a character stored in the field? If not, it's either something with the Export Type or Excel itself.

I haven't heard this reported before, so maybe it's a configuration setting with Excel that's doing something funky.

Hi Ben,

I checked the database.....the fields are empty there.
My form html code concerning the formfield in question:

Hi Ben,

I just discovered that when I set the formfield to textarea or textbox everything is fine.
Strange thing remains however: when I change back to dropdown the error doesn't reproduce itself no more. The database remains empty at al points (col-6 en col_8 by the way)

Hi Ben!

I deleted the form....updated all modules until the latest version, resubmitted the form I had (with 352 fields...you know me) and now the character doesn't show up!

Still doesn't solve the issue really...but I have no problems now!

Excellent! But oh man, sounds like a pain to reconfigure - 352 fields... yowch!

I wonder what was causing it...
