I created a form which goes to the database OK but , is there a captcha option anywhere?

I know it works for the older version of Captcha, I would love to see it work with Google's latest version but I haven't tried it yet.

Ok, I am finally getting around to needing this, myself. I literally spent ALL DAY testing other various code samples and have been unsuccessful in getting the current Google reCaptcha to work in an existing single page form using the FT API. I can display one, no problem. But getting it to actually work has been a no go for me. Replying here in hopes to see input from Ben about this one. Would love to get an updated captcha going for my more basic contact forms.

Google has also rolled out an Invisible captcha - which would be great in a few of my forms, but since I've had so much trouble getting the v2 captcha to work, I'm not sure how I would test an Invisible captcha, to see if it even works.....

Afraid this looks beyond me. I dont even know which file I would need to edit !

Hi Chris -

Are you using the API? (Do you have a form on your website submitting to the database?). If so, the tutorial shows you what code to add to your existing PHP form. Just click on Step 2: Adding a CAPTCHA to your form. Since it is supported natively by FormTools, there isn't a lot to do, really. Just add the few pieces of code to your form and that's about it.

Alas, that code will add the old version of Google captcha to your form. It works okay, but it's out of date.

My reply was about attempting to code the NEW version of captcha into my forms (it's not natively supported by FormTools, yet). However, I was unsuccessful. So I have to wait and see if Ben plans to update the FormTools core to support the two newest versions of captcha, with backwards compatibility to the previous version. It may actually make more sense to offer the majority of captcha code as a module to FormTools, so the module can be updated separately from the core, when the captcha changes in the future. Then again, captcha's don't change very often, so leaving it in the core is probably fine.

It does go to a database. I have been trying to find the relevant file in C panel but cannot find it. I assumed it would be in the folder "forms" . The old version will do but it really would be nice to have the new version

Hey pp2ch,

It sounds like maybe you are using the form builder module to create your forms and not the API, and a custom form. As michatmaster7 explained, you can pretty easily add the old style of Captcha to your form but at this point it must be a custom form and not using form builder.
