Server Migration

Hello,

We are using the latest version of Form Tools, and would like to migrate the install to another server with a different hostname. What is the best way to do this? I changed the root url in the /global/config.php to match the new hostname, but it didnt work. I kept getting redirect errors. I then went and looked at the database (which I also moved), it seems that the settings are stored in there as well. If I change the base url in the database, will it work well enough so I can go to the settings page and change the rest of the information?

Hmmm... I'd have thought changing the URL and folder in the config.php would have been sufficient, since that's what's used to log in. Odd!

Since it didn't work, I'd just try changing all URLs you spot in the settings table of the database, and using trial and error to test logging in.

Actually, no. All I get is a redirect error "Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete." and IE will just sit there trying to load the page forever. Maybe when I copied the /formtools directory from the other server I corrupted it somehow?

I am going to check to make sure that the user account for the database is fine on the new server... If that does not work, then I will try moving everything over again today.
