Sounds like you did everything right! However, I'd double-check that everything was uploaded properly. By far the most likely cause of this is that all the files didn't make the trip to the server. There are no hardcoded paths for new installations - they're all relative, so it should automatically include the appropriate files when first loading in your browser.
Try deleting the whole shebang from your server and re-uploading. If that still doesn't work, compare the contents with the unzipped copy on your home computer and see if those missing files are there.
