Hi Folks,
Just upgraded to 2.1.4 ... all seems well... except...
Just created a new form (external and simple) with one upload field. Everything seems to be set correctly. Have tested the upload folders and they check out ok.
Uploads are not coming in and I can't seem to upload files to existing submissions either. I've searched the forums and have seen other posts but none seem to solve what I think ought to be a simple problem. Not even sure where else to look.
Any clues would be helpful... here's the form.

Thanks... otherwise love FT for years (simple usage though)...

Hi Jeff,
Sorry for the wait! It's been a week of crises over here.
Your form looks great - no problem there. So does the file upload work within Form Tools itself? When you try uploading a file on a form submission do you get any errors?

Hi Ben... yeah I know those crises...
NO, I cannot upload anything from an existing or newly created form within FT...
Appreciate your help and GREAT work!

Hey Jeff,
Hmmm! My best guess is that your server isn't configured to allow file uploads - but it may well be something else.
I don't suppose that when you try to upload a file within the FT interface it gives you some nice helpful error message? Just nothing happens at all?

Nothing, Ben... nothing happens. No upload. Although I have other forms that have worked in the past... but not since I upgraded. I've been using FT a long time, but just not for complicated stuff (not that this should be complicated).
Any other diagnostics or ?? I'm running on a VPS so it's only my sites. Appreciate any help, Ben... launch of this site pending this... (but no pressure... really... it's just that everything is waiting on this... :-) ...

EDIT: I just went back to one of my other forms from prev versiond that have uploaded in the past and they won't upload there now either... so something has changed at some point.
EDIT 2: Another thing, Ben... for some reason I have no "themes" tab. There is a menu link on the left, but when you click it, it goes nowhere, because there is no tab to go... the themes are in the directory as far as I can tell. Is it possible that the upgrade didn't do everything that it's supposed to? No obvious problems other than what I've pointed out. 9:40 pm PDT (So Calif)

Hi Jeff,
Sorry for not being around.... it's been a really crazy week, and I'm not quite out of the dark yet.

Interesting - this was a previous installation? If that's the case, then something's changed on your server. But the fact that you're not getting any sort of error when trying it through the UI is a little surprising - it sounds like FT *thinks* the files are getting uploaded just fine.

I doubt this is anything to worry about. Just go to your Menus -> Edit Admin Menu page and re-select the Themes page item for that nav item and make it a top level nav item (no longer a subnav item like "files" and "menus"). When you save that, the link should work fine.
This changed way back in 2.0.4 or something...
But regarding the file upload problem, any chance you could give me temporary FTP access + your FT login information so I could take a look at the problem directly? If so, email me at ben.keen@gmail.com

Just wanted to second the OP on this issue...
I upgraded FormTools to 2.1.4 this past Friday afternoon and, ever since then, any submissions that came in with file attachments didn't save the file attachments.
I've double-checked that the File Upload extension is installed. It appears to be configured correctly. The /upload folder has its permissions set properly and tests properly in the FormTools back-end. The code for the form itself hasn't changed, nor has the server configuration. I even checked the MySQL database (via phpMyAdmin) and it doesn't have the files listed there either.
I tried uploaded a file to both an existing submission and a new submission via the back-end. In both cases, nothing appeared to happen. There was a pause, then I was back at the View Submission screen, with nothing entered in the file upload field. No FormTools errors or anything.
Normally this wouldn't be a big deal, as only a couple of the forms I manage have file upload fields, but the timing on this specific issues is very problematic, as I was just informed that one of the affected forms has a submission deadline of 5 p.m. today. I'll update the form to provide a contingency (probably having people send the files as email attachments directly to the person in charge of processing the form submissions), but...the timing couldn't have been worse.

Hi Doug,
I am really sorry to hear about the problems.
I spoke to Jeff via email and I think his problems were just caused by the upload_tmp_dir not being set on his server. That said, what you described is exactly the same thing encountered there, so perhaps I was wrong.
If it *is* a problem, I doubt it's related to the Core - neither 2.1.3 or 2.1.4 changed anything with the file upload functionality.
I'm going to look it over again now on my own installation and see if I can spot anything else.

What is the "upload_tmp_dir"? On my FormTools installation, there's an "upload" directory, but that's it...maybe I'm missing that other directory or something?
