editing config.php file

I posted a lengthy question about ssl and forms earlier today but I am thinking maybe the solution is to edit the config.php file to set ssl = true and the url property to be "https" instead of "http."

However, I am unable to edit the file, only view it. When I try to edit and save the changes I get an error message. I tried to change the permissions but it will not allow me to change permissions, either.

This is version 2.0.5 that was installed by my web host into a subdomain directory. Is there a way I can edit the file? What do I need to do?

How about you download the file, edit, save and upload it back?

How about you download the file, edit, save and upload it back?

Hi, thanks for the reply. I tried that but when I tried uploading it, it wouldn't accept it. However, that was done by trying to overwrite the existing file. I think I will try downloading it, then deleting the file on the server and then seeing if I can upload it back to the site. That way there will be no file to overwrite, but then I suspect I won't be allowed to delete the original file, either. I am at work now so I can't try it out until I get home.
