Update to SwiftMailer ?

As others have mentioned on this forum in the last few months, I'm having difficulty with emails being sent successfully from FormTools. They worked fine for months (with no SwiftMailer module), now no longer work consistently. Switched to SwiftMailer, can't get that to work. In SwiftMailer I get the Error 110 that others have posted about. Seems to be an incompatibility problem with PHP 5.4 (as others have already mentioned).

My question:

Does anyone know anything about the FormTools SwiftMailer 'Upgrade" on GitHub ? I emailed the code modifier, Ben McClure on 8/13/2016, and have not received an answer. Need to know if it is legit, and if anyone has tried using it. Here is the link:

Wow I didn't know that existed out there. I too am curious if it works! It would sure help a lot of people. Keep us updated if you try it or get any response from the author.

I have not received an answer to the email I sent to Ben McClure (the GitHub code contributor) inquiring about this "Upgrade" to the FormTools SwiftMailer module. I did, however, download it and install it in FormTools for testing. I cannot complete a successful email test from within the module itself, as I receive a "Page Not Found ERROR 500" message when I click the SEND Email button in the Test tab of the module. So far, I cannot track down the cause of this error. Someone more familiar with the internal PHP of FormTools and its original SwiftMailer module may have more success in testing this Upgrade and be able to spot the problem.

Just read on Ben Keene's site (a post on his blog from 8/18/16) that he is again delayed in having time available to spend on FormTools updates and code fixes. Sure wish there was a resolution to the email issues.
