An MS Access replacement

Hi,

I have created a MySQL database and have been working on it using phpMyAdmin. Now I would like to create a 'front end' for it so users can easily run pre-written queries and updates.

I understood that Form Tools would enable me to do this with similar end results to that of MS Access.

I have installed Form Tools successfully but can't see how to write forms which will query my existing database (which sits on the same server as the Form Tools database).

If someone could point me in the right direction I'd be grateful.

I understand that I may have miss-understood some of what Form Tools is about so any help would be appreciated.

Hi Feisar,

Form Tools provides an interface to manage your form data however the database needs to be created by Form Tools. It can not query an existing database.

So my understanding is almost correct (as in Form Tools being an alternative to Access) but I need to recreate my database within the Form Tools database?

Is there an easy way of importing tables from another database?

Hi Feisar,

All tables need to be created within Form Tools. It's a bit of extra work but will help avoid any issues by importing from another database.
