The App Store for Android of Portuguese origin announced that it has reached 200 million users worldwide. Aptoide apk offers close to one million applications in its store and reports more than 4 billion downloads have already been made.
The socially oriented independent app store allows users to upload apps, create and share them with other users. Created in 2011, the App Store is available in more than 40 languages and predicts that this year will surpass the annual record for downloads and exceed one billion downloaded apps.
According to Portuguese technology, the success is also due to its young audience and the fact that it has established partnerships around the world with mobile phone manufacturers and telecommunications operators.
Currently Aptoide's biggest bet has fallen on emerging markets, especially in countries such as Brazil, India, Mexico and Venezuela. One of the reasons it is so popular in Asia, Latin America and the Middle East is that it offers alternative payment methods to the credit card.
Álvaro Pinto, COO and Co-founder of Aptoide, explains that "most users come from emerging markets, representing these countries more than 60% of the total."
What's more, with these markets in mind, Aptoide has already developed solutions such as Aptoide Lite, which allow its users to enjoy a version of the store that consumes less mobile data and memory space.
The company posted a turnover of 3.6 million euros in 2016 and expects to surpass that mark in 2017.
