changing file upload directories

Hi,

I have two forms on two different websites, and each has a file upload field. The files are being uploaded properly to the default settings (which reside on a third website), but I would really like the uploaded files to be sent to a directory on their respective websites.

I have tried changing the values in the forms > edit > fields > options > Setting: file upload folder area, but each time I enter a new upload folder path, I get a "sorry, this does not appear to be a valid folder" message, and each time I enter a new upload folder URL, I get a "...permissions need to be set on...777..." message. The folder path and the permissions are valid, just something not going through.

I have looked at other threads extensively, and while I may have missed something, I didn't see this particular issue addressed. Any help would be appreciated.

This is probably just a path issue, but it can be a little tricky to debug.

Try creating a file called "test.php" and upload it to one of your upload folders. It should have the following content:

PHP Code:

<?php print_r($_SERVER); ?>

Then load it in your browser and take a look at what's outputted. It'll output a whole thwack of stuff, so you might want to view the page source for a more intelligible format.

What you're interested in is one of the keys that contains the absolute filepath to that folder (NOT the URL - the actual path on the server). Double check that that value is the same one you're entering in the forms > edit > fields > options > Setting: file upload folder.

Ben,

I used the [SCRIPT_FILENAME] => information (which matched the file path I had been using) and still no dice. Permissions set at 777. Puzzling! Thanks for your help.
