RE: Not going pass step4 - Michel - Dec 5th, 2010 Don't worry, Ben, you did a great job and the important thing is that there is a way to install ft ! RE: Not going pass step4 - ukbvd - Dec 18th, 2010 Hi Ben I have email you direct as I have tried just about every thing posted in this thread even jumped to #5 but just went round in circles getting Unable to connect to mysql server. awaiting your intervention cheers Derek RE: Not going pass step4 - Ben - Dec 18th, 2010 Hi Derek, Ah - if it's giving you the message "Unable to connect to mysql server", that means that the MySQL credentials you supplied are incorrect - most likely the hostname. I just got your email (sorry! I'm playing catch-up here!) so I'll take a look at it later today & email you back then. ![]() But from what you described, it sounds like the hostname is incorrect. - Ben RE: Not going pass step4 - ukbvd - Dec 18th, 2010 Hi Ben With all my other php/mysql set ups i.e word press etc I always use the same Mysql host name credentials as I have this time. Instead of using local host i always use the details supplied by my hosting provider. Thanks for getting back so quick and take your time re the email I know your a very busy Man cheers Derek (Dec 18th, 2010, 10:00 AM)Ben Wrote: Hi Derek, RE: Not going pass step4 - dvgn - Dec 21st, 2010 Hi there! Just tried installing and got stuck on step 4. When asked to manually create the 'config.php' file and hit the 'continue' button, all I get is a blank page. Is there any way u can help me fix this out? Thx RE: Not going pass step4 - Ben - Dec 26th, 2010 Hi dvgn, Yeesh - updating the installation script is DEFINITELY in the cards for 2.1.0. I can't believe the number of problems in this thread... So did you actually create the config.php file and upload it to your /global folder? - Ben RE: Not going pass step4 - imartinez - Jan 6th, 2011 Hi Gentlemen, It looks like many people are having this same issue, I can tell you that it is not a browser issue, it seems like if the installation doesn't write the config.php itself, it doesn't recognize the uploaded by FTP version that is created manually. After clicking CONTINUE past the manual creation of the config.php file and upload to the global folder we only get a BLANK page. Has anyone gone past this problem??? - below is my config.php file code: <?php // main program paths - no trailing slashes! $g_root_url = "http://www.igroupmedia.com/xxxxxxx"; $g_root_dir = "/homepages/7/d176033055/htdocs/igroup/xxxxxxx"; // database settings $g_db_hostname = "db2758.perfora.net"; $g_db_name = "db353518920"; $g_db_username = "dbo353518920"; $g_db_password = "xxxxxxx"; $g_table_prefix = "iGFT_"; ?> We need to get this installation fixed ASAP, please. Thanks! RE: Not going pass step4 - Ben - Jan 7th, 2011 Hi imartinez - and anyone else encountering this problem. If possible, would you allow me to install the script for you on your system? To do that, I'll need the following info: - the URL of the folder where you've tried to install it - the FTP info for your server - your database information If this is possible, email it to me at ben.keen@gmail.com and I'll look at it as soon as I can. Ben RE: Not going pass step4 - ceciliaerickson - Jan 8th, 2011 thank you Ben for your support. RE: Not going pass step4 - Ted - Jan 21st, 2011 FWIW. I had exact same problems (wouldn't go past step3, etc; then login generated blank page). I solved the login 'problem' by changing the encoding of my config.php file to "UTF without BOM". This has fixed similar problems before and worked a treat this time too. Don't ask me what it does, it just works. Ted |
