Okay, next step is to check the server logs. Could you ask your hosting provider to ask if there are any email logs? If so, request the password again through the page again then check the logs.
Is this for your admin account? If so, you can always resort to resetting it manually:

The Swift Mailer is just an alternative way of sending emails. It's a lot better in that it's more reliable and more flexible. But if you don't have it installed & configured, you're fine.
